I was told by a the Jeep specialty yard here in Sacramento, to not concern myself with the ending letters, that they signify place of manufacture. The last three numbers are the important part, to get matching numbers. Said that not matching could lead to not running right, due to parameters calibrated for some of the sensors in the PCM. Like the diff between fed emissions and CA emissions. I have also seen both those codes listed for my 99 also. I have 492 in mine, Fed emissions, in CA.

Got one and it was weird had another sticker ontop of it the top sticker read 493AE my orginal pcm that I took out read 492AE so I looked under the sticker to see and what do u know it says 492AE its in and my jeep no longer overcharges. But I do have a engine light on gotta find out what code its throwing tomorrow.but so far so good. Why would there be another sticker ontop of it

Good to hear, might have been reprogrammed at factory. I have a line on a 493 at local jy also, its a CA limited truck. Mine is a fed sport. Hope the new PCM works out good for you, then it might work for me.
