Guntar, that does not make much sense. In XJs the fuel injectors receive their power from the ASD relay, same power source as the spark coil. The PCM operates the fuel injectors by grounding them.

XJs have a known chafing point where the harness is damaged.

Where is that known chafing point, O Green Leafy One? And what years are affected?

Jump from the firewall to the valve cover. At least 1997-2001, I think earlier models have the same design. The chafing is where the harness loads into the trough. IIRC it's just taped and not in loom.

Thanks! I'll have to look at that. My 94 hasn't run for about 18 months due to a computer problem what was not solved by a new computer. Began to suspect the connector/harness, but haven't done anything with it.

Is there a common solution to this other than snipping and soldering each wire in order to make them longer for a better service loop? I got a code 27 today and have noticed this chafing in my diagnosis process.

Junkyard wiring harness? But nothing I've never heard of.

Similar happened to my old '94 XJ 4.0 with unexplainable intermittent misfires.
The random misfires only happened with a hot engine.

Don't remember whether the shorted wires were more down the channel or where the picture shows.
But i remember the Jeep tech. who found the problem said the injector wire insulation melted just enough when hot to cause injector wire shorts against each other.

Those good old days when that XJ was still under warranty.
