Default Paying too much?

I took my Cherokee in to get my upper and lower right ball joints and u-joints done at a place called tims auto and was told it would cost $880...
How does that sound for cost.. Just trying to get an idea because I brought it to kal-tire and was quoted $980 for upper and lower ball joints, u-joints, upper and lower control arm bushings which I don't need because I have new control arms, and a front end alignment...

how does this sound?

Well if you lived south of the 48th it'd probably be half that. Remember we have all those politicians to keep off the welfare lines. JK!!! sorta
Seems like a lot to me. Say a shop rate of $60 an hour it shouldn't take more than 3 hours tops ($180)and parts should be about $200...........
Yeah your getting hosed

I may be getting hosed but nowhere will do a front end alignment without new ball joints and u-joints and my mudders are worth too much to wear down
I think I will get overcharged no matter where I go... sadly
Last place I was at charges $100 an hour

$100 per hour labor rate is about the average (around here anyway, we're at $98 per hour)

Idk, I can look it up tomorrow at work if you'd like?

Sidenote - where ever you have the alignment done, see if they offer a "Lifetime Alignment". A few shops I've been at in the past offer that, basically 3 years worth of free alignments that you pay for up front, it was like $400. But... you could beat the life outta the truck every single weekend offroad, then have it aligned as many times as you wanted.

That sounds near "dealer" labor cost. Most local repair shops here average about $60-$65 an hour. By the way...Since the original poster is from Canada is the $880 quoted in US or Canadian money?

The $880 is Canadian currency and no im not driving it to the states to get it fixed anyway so $880 here is $880.

Why is it you ask though?

Search Craigslist for a shade tree mechanic that does repairs at his house, will be cheaper.

I was just thinking that with the conversion rate maybe $880 Canadian would be something much cheaper here and wasnt as bad a deal as we thought. But I just checked and it`s still $838US so....Never mind
