Default Passenger headlight high beam stuck on

Hello all. I did some searching, but wasn't able to find an answer to my problem. I have a 97 XJ 4.0 and noticed that my high beam was out on the passenger head lamp. I changed it out and now when I pull the switch to just turn on the headlights (non-highbeam) my passenger one is on high. When I go to pull back on the turn signal the driver headlight is engauging same as when I push it fully out. The passenger one doesn't change at all. Also I now notice that the high beam indicator in my gauge cluster is slightly lit up when just turning on the headlights...Kind of weird. Anyone have any iteas?

yes check ground, also check the wiring plug in the left front corner under the airbox, all of your front lighting connects there, usually goes green with corrosion....

Checked and cleaned headlight connector. Checked both hot pins with a volt meter on high and low beams and it was functioning normal. I do have a replacement turn signal switch coming in soon because the left blinker doesn't disengage after a turn, is it possible that that could be causing the issue since it also controls the high beam selection?

No is not the switch, only one wire comes out of the switch for both lights and you said that the other side is working fine. The filaments onthe bulb are like a Y power on top and ground on the bottom.
If the ground becomes loose or corroded you will back feed from the other side, and the light will come on.Check the actual ground on the harness. If you don't believe me unplug the other side and the light that you are having problems with will turn off.

If u had a bad ground or no ground and the headlights were back feeding they would be very dim because they would now be in a series circuit. They worked fine before you replaced the headlight? Sounds like the headlight you got is junk. If the filaments are shorted together, the power from the low beam is feeding both filaments in a unintended parallel circuit. Part warranty that headlamp if the parts store will let you

My thoughts too. Try another light, your new one could be defective out of the box.

Switch the headlights. See if the problem switches to the other side and tada you verified the headlamp was bad
