i NEED drivers side tail light housing, right & left headlight trim bezels, marker housings (under headlight), & side markers....if the markers & bezels arent damaged, $40 + shipping?
Bezels are beat. I can send you a tailight and I think the front lenses though!!!!! As for the d44 I'll do a search and have my gpa look for it. XJREMY email me your address and when I get to Missouri I'll get those pulled off and sent to you. jacobmustard@gmail.com
so you're saying front & side markers are ok, just the bezels that go around the headlight & front marker are shot??
for the axles, if you've got ABS, you're D35 in the rear & D30 w/5-297x u-joints up front
non-ABS, either D44 30 spline (towing/off-road package) or D35 27 spline in the rear & D30 w/5-260x u-joints up front
D30's 27 spline high pinion "reverse cut" were used up front till 2000, then they went low pinion "standard cut"
the 99's 8.25 rear has 29 spline

I got my 99 as a salvage and when it was rebuilt they never fixed the drivers headlight bezel. I noticed this when I had to replace the headlight and there was no place to mount it. (Kept falling out) The passenger side is where gma hit the tree but it was at the bumper mount so its possible to still be good or its possible that the lenses are no good on that side. But either way whatever I have is getting shipped to you if you'll pay shipping. No need to charge anything cuz all that stuff will just be sitting on a pullapart jeep that I wont use on my 89. I'll get in touch with you Saturday when I get to Missouri and get the stuff sent. Thank you for the info on the axles. Any info on the tranny/TC swap?

Hmm.. its ashame your so far away. I'd ask about the drivers side fender and and front clip pieces that were still good. I'm doing the front end conversion on mine and can't find those parts in local junkyards haha. I don't know anything about any differences between the different years trans and transfer cases, sorry.
SWEET DEAL! thanx, jman.....of course i'll pay shipping....e-mail's jem_olives@yahoo.com.....email me when you find out what parts are in good shape to be sent out & a shipping quote, & i'll pay-pal it over to ya
so i googled "jeep cherokee specs":
http://jeephorizons.com/tech/xjstockspecs.html
http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/...ID_Project.htm
so from what you've described, you've got the AW4 auto trans with power/comfort button (which is unique to the AW4, you'd have to research its functions & compare to non-power/comfort equipped) with 21 spline output....newer AW4 have 23 spline, so just swapping trans from 99 to 89 is not possible w/o changing the output of the trans, or better option input of the 89's 242, or maybe some adapter i dont kno of
ive actually wanted a 242 for its full-time capabilities, but i've been told the market for parts is greater for the 231....additionally, the 242 has less MPG than the 231 (obviously in 4 full time)....also, your 242's slip-yoke slides in & out of the t-case & gets lubricated w/t-case fluid, where newer (96+) t-case slip yoke is external & does not get lubed.......this is irrelevant if you're gonna lift past 3".....you'd be installing a SYE (slip yoke eliminator) to alleviate driveshaft/t-case angle & having driveshaft slip off output shaft when axle droops

haha, thanx man.....just good research.....google's my best friend, also knowing how to scour the forums is key......mostly all the specs i gave ya, are in the links & some from experience
i would do exactly what you're doing if i had an older xj & full access to the newer/last model xj.....i've done a lot of research into swappable parts for my 98

My 89s engine has 80k on it and a fresh head job. 99 has 110k. The 99 is just going to be used for swap parts to my 89. Grandpa has a large farm/vehicle and farm salvage/metal salvage so the jeep will never go anywhere so i'll leave the motor in it unless I get froggy and builda stroker out of it. I'll keep the tranny/TCase for an extra because I have very bad luck with autos.
yea, strokers the way to go.....one day ill have the funds
did u kno about the 99 intake manifold??....it was redesigned that year...it allows better air flow (than previous years) thru the intake & in turn improves gas milage....is that the year that the distributor was replaced with coil packs for the spark plugs?? these 2 redesigns (plus i think ported exhausts or better flowing headers, something on the exhaust end) made for better performance & fuel efficiency
definitely something worthwhile looking into if ur up to it......i'm savin up some extra $$ to buy a 99 manifold myself, ford mustang injectors, bored TB, custom cowl CAI....it'll be GLORIOUS

So I made it to MO and Ive been working on my jeep a little and figured out that my 99 probly has a BDS 2 inch coil lift. Im going to combine leafs from both jeeps and try to get 4-5 out of it with shackles. I also think they did a t-case drop on it unless the different yrs have different mounts. Between the frame and crossmember there is 1in squre tubing.
