part time 4x4
on my jeep when i put it into four wheel drive it says part time on the dash. what does this mean. do i not have full time four wheel drive?

your jeep has a 231 tc meaning you have part time 4wd. meaning u only use party time, when you have limited traction, ie. off road, snow, when u feel your jeep is slipping in any other condition

Your Part Time light comes on letting you know you have shifted your transfer case into 4WD (4HI or 4LO) and your front axle is engaged. It will remain on until you shift back into 2WD (2HI) letting you know your XJ is back in 2WD. You never want to see your Part Time light on when on a dry road situation.
