2000 jeep xj sport np231 auto 4.0
While in 4hi, the front end makes a clicking sound if I'm turning at all, I'm not binding gears because I was in mud and my tires were spinning, what's the noise and is it bad?

Probably a U joint in a front axle. Mine did it in low range also....
Best to take care of it, but it can go a good bit in 2WD without blowing up or something.
