Default parking break issues

New to the forums, got me a Cherokee and been slowly working on it. When I bought it the parking break is really weak. I have to pretty much try to rip it out to get it so it will hold the jeep on even the slightest hill. I don't suppose anyone els has had this sort of problem and can give me some ideas on ways to fix it or something to check? Its a 1992 cherokee sport.

The parking break should only have to come up half way on the console to park it on a hill correct?

chances are, you need to replace your rear brake shoes and drums.

if they're already new, then use the adjuster.

you could possibly have a seized cable also.

that last pic is a service brake line, your parking brake adjuster is in the middle of the jeep above the drive shaft
