is there a way to get the rod back in without having to replace anything?

 

1993 base model ..no console

bought it like this .. when pulled the brakes do work .. it does not click stationary

is on my list of fix its

get a JY handle assy? or is fixable ?

If i goto JY .. what all has to be done to get the part ? I dont like crawling under JY jeeps .. they set them up without wheels, dangerous

 

went to JY today .. found the 1996 XJ which I snagged roof parts from a month ago .. that wrecked jeep came in handy

piece of cake to remove .. console was already 1/2 ripped apart .. cut the carpet out around it too

(2) 10mm bolts holding the assy on (inside cab) .. underneath, I removed the rear end cables after loosening the adjuster assy .. 1/2 inch bolt ... ratcheting box wrench made it quick .. when loose enough .. the rear cable nipples, slip out of the "T" bracket which connects the lever cable to both rear cables



pulled the entire lever & cable to adjuster section

had it installed in 30 minutes .. works great

no pics, was tryin to beat the rain .. it was a bit different, but looks beefier & the electrical connect matched right up, dash light works with it

good stuff .. $20 .. thanks for the tips in this post

... now I can legally drive this jeep into Climax Mine jobsite .. parking brakes & chocks are required .. safety safety safety .. on that note .. gotta honk 1 time starting vehicle, 2 times to go forward, 3 times before reverse .. my horn does work unlike the last 2 XJs I've owned
