I just finished flat blacking mine, I would have some pics up but it isnt allowing me to upload. All i did was rough up eevrything with some mild grit, Like 250 or 300, taped it all off and just worked one can at a time. The key for me was to do each piece individually, looking at the highs and lows and touching up accordingly. I had done my hood when I first got her to cover up some rust touch ups. and that lasted for a long time. When I replaced the hood I wasn't a fan of the green body and gold hood, so I just went flat black. It is all about the patience. Take your time and you'll do fine.

Um, well, imo after spending a majority of your time doing bodywork i think its kinda dumb " rolling on rustoleum " especially like that one guy doing it on a vette! It looked ok in the pics but i'm sure its less than impressive in person. Do it right if you want a nice paint job or if your just looking to get some color on your jeep ( cuz its gonna get beat up on the trails ) save yourself a bunch of trouble and just go to maaco. Again just my .02 and i dont wanna get anyone po'd
i bet that vette looks pretty good. same as the charger, vw and the corvair.
maaco, they will paint over dirt and grease if it isn't prepped properly. also it will only last a year as it's applied very thin.
remember, it's all in the prep. bad prep, bad paint, no matter who sprays it.

I'd love to see this write-up with before and after pics. I've had people tell me they've buffed off their peeling clear coat in the past and it came out looking great. Mine's peeling pretty bad, and I'd rather not fork out the $ for a paint job if I can just buff it off.

seriously, if you do a good job prepping the body, all you need is a good base of paint, it doesn't matter how it gets on the body, as long as it's applied with patience. the wet sanding between each application will get rid of any imperfections, then once the 5th coat is on, all you need is a good wax applied with a buffer. that will bring out the shine and get rid of any orange peel.

x2 on the prep, i meant for him to prep and maaco to spray, btw you'd be surprised what $20 and a 12 pack to the guy painting your rig will getcha
i started painting mine today... I stripped the paint first with industrial stripper. It burns bad
But i did the hood and tomorrow im going to wet sand it
oh btw i used rustoleum paint and rolled it on

Use a DA sander with 320 grit. too easy. stripper or 1000 grit is crazy. Prime it. Use maroon scotch bright gently over the primer. Use a tack cloth, and paint it. BaseCoat,Clear Coat is the most durable and expensive. 2 or 3 coats of clear coat. It runs fast, so keep the gun moving.
