Post Painting...

Hey guys! Decided to paint the side accents on the Jeep today, you know, the tone's on the door that go all the way around? Gonna see how they look then decide to do the bumpers or not. Recommend any certain type of paint (i.e. Krylon _____)? Gonna get some 240-400 some grit sand paper to get started. Any ideas or does anyone see any flaws with the idea? Thanks!

use a less abrasive sand paper after the 300 n i used stone guard on mine it dries real hard but the trick with that or underbody paints is u have to lay do a good layer of paint first to seal the metal than along the ape line i use 1/4 pin striping striped my linre than put the tape halfway on the pin strip so when pulled no rough edges

I'm lost as to what your talking too. I'm referring to the plastic trim that is on the lower third of the door. Talking about the same piece?

i didn't do anything crazy just made it dull and used a good wax and grease remover.. ment for plastic... just make sure it is completely dry before you paint..

Alright. I do the grease remover first then sand. After sanding, should I prime then paint or just paint?

grease remover 1st because when you sand it cause small marker that the grease remover cant get into.. but before you paint make sure the surface is complete dust free grease free wax free and dry... plastic primer never hurts... depends on the color... I would read the back of the can and see what it says some of them have primer built into the spray can now.. and make sure to do thin coats not heavy thick coats... it also pays to take it slow and take your time... but i am sure you know that already... good luck..

If I remember correctly you do not need to sand with Krylon Fusion paint. Read the can to be sure, but I think you just wipe it down with paint prep/degreaser, mask and spray.
