Question Paint Interior Panels

On my 1996 XJ,I have replaced my lower dash panel. However the color is not correct. The parts manual list the color as "Saddle". Not Chrysler "Dark Saddle & not Chrysler "New Saddle". Now trying to locate a quality plastic paint. Can anyone help me. Thanks.

Check with a local body shop/paint supply store. Ask for the brand name SEM. They have many factory colors and can also make a factory color custom for you if they don't have your particular color.

The first thing is to find the paint code if you can. You might look on ebay too in case there is an old can from the 00's you can buy. If you can't find the right color, you might try to match it up with something 'close', or have an automotive paint shop mix you up a half of a pint. It will cost more than a spray can but it should be 'right'. If they can mix up interior paint they can add flattening agent to it (for a semi-gloss appearance).

There are some online companies that'll put any color in a can, but IDK what they charge.

I replied in the "other" forum as well.

Are you sure you looked at CHEROKEE and not GRAND CHEROKEE. My FSM and parts guide call out Dark Sand for the interior trim for the XJ, and Saddle for the ZJ.

If you go to an automotive paint store, you should be able to look in their 1996 Jeep paint book and within there should be a bunch of interior paint chips. Match up to your truck or trim level. You might want to call in advance to make sure they still have colors for 1996. They probably do, but some shops may not have books which go that far back.
