I'm doing an intake/exhaust manifold gasket on my 2000 xj, would painting my intake manifold be a good idea? If so what paint? And also I'm gonna paint my fuel rod a nice black again
all part stores sell engine enamel. you can pick and choose what you want for color. just make sure its high temp. as for heat soak, unless your making like 300 hp in your jeep the temps in the intake are not going to be signifant enough for you to even notice a decrease in power. if you want color do it

I painted mine silver. It looks great. Choose the right paint and it will work.

paint will raise your intake temps... in most cases 99% of time.. the hotter the charge going into engine .. the less power... so yes painting intake could acually kill a few hp .....take it to a shop that has a sand blaster and give them a few bucks to blast it .... nothing looks better then a aluminum intake thats brand new or freshly sand blasted...

I'd have to see some research showing that a paper thin coating of aluminized high temp paint is going to make things hotter than the already 1/4" thick aluminum intake manifold. Maybe we can test it somehow if no ones done it scientifically.
