Default Overheating in Arizona

OK, I have been chasing down leaks (I know surprise right LOL) I have them all pretty well fixed or identified and on my to do list. So I have this leak on the passenger side, before you say it, I have replaced all the O rings, gaskets and the oil psi sender. I have cleaned it up more times than I want to admit and watched for the "wet". It is leaking from the weep hole in the bottom of the distributor! I pulled the distributor, disassembled it, checked the shaft, gear, rotor and housing out for any obvious damage, none to report.
I started thinking PCV/CCV valve and replaced the CCV, the leak ALMOST went away, almost. Engine runs great, almost 160K on it, but has a lifter clatter like nothing else! Then I find it getting too hot, what the heck, all rebuilt cooling system and still heating up. I heard a vacuum leak, chased it down to the CCV. Not really a leak but the amount of vacuum it was pulling through the CCV was in my opinion excessive. I restricted the line reducing the "leak", the temp is now back down to normal maybe a little hot and I have been driving it to work here in PX where it's not cool out. Has anybody heard of this, did I get the wrong CCV.

Excessive vac in the ccv line won't cause overheating as far as I understand the systems. There is a smaller vac line at the back that draws air through the larger vent at the front(connected to the air box). So it's likely the overheating is a different problem.

When you rebuilt the cooling system what parts did you replace?

I replaced everything, The water pump with a Hesco high flow, thermostat housing with a Hesco high flow, a 195 high flow T-stat, ALL new hoses including heater, an all metal 3 row radiator, heavy duty fan clutch, new temp sender, flushed the block, new coolant and a bottle of water wetter for good measure.
I think the new CCV has a much bigger orifice hole in it compared to the old one. The massive extra vacuum "leak" causes it to lean out, the computer trys to pump in more fuel to compensate for the air fuel mix.
I have not YET vented my hood, it's on my list to do, I need to decide on a vent design and just do it.

I welcome any insight on this thing...
