Have u verified with a IR temp gun? Those ambient temps will really test the XJ cooling system, as u obviously know.

Try burping the system, you may have air in the system.

Thing is it wasnt overheating that bad before I started messing with the cooling system. I bought this xj from my brother he's the one the one that is really into xj's but I live in another state from him so any advice I get its over text messages.

It was running at 210 on light to light traffic but would go over 220 if driven over 20 minutes non stop. This is my DD so I decided to get it checked out and my cousin who is a mechanic advised me that was pretty hot but its not that bad for jeeps (I know that now, didnt then). After I tried swapping the Tstat it started really overjeating like going red line while idling within 5 minutes.

Took the rad to get re soldered but was told I needed a new one because it was un repairable. Ive swapped everything except the water pump, temp sensor, and clutch fan. I dont think its my clutch fan because the fan is tight and seems to be spinning fine and I dont think its the water pump because im not leaking and theres no noise coming from it. Tomorrow ill be swapping the temp sensor and checking relays/fuses for the fan.

I just dont know what happened it was running fine before even with a bad rad. Im fine running it free flow without a tstat I mean its as hot as hell in this Arizona desert and I figure ill put one in when winter comes around,

The water pump fins could have disintergrated or be damaged. I'd say replace it cus there cheap

I get puzzled when folks say they have a overheating problem and then list/describe the cooling system components they HAVE NOT changed.

Are u saying u have 2 aftermarket electric rad fans????? That might be your overheat problem in traffic. Some sentence structure/punctuation sure helps to understand what one is writing.

When it's broke down, guess there's plenty of time to diagnose/guess......and hope that a $250 failed cooling system doesn't ruin a $4000 motor.

The cooling system on ANY vehicle (that's no longer covered under factory warranty) should be considered as a "routine maintenance" item.

The "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality DOES NOT APPLY to the cooling system IF one wants a reliable daily driver of whatever kind. That's like saying "if it's got oil on the dipstick, don't ever change the oil".

If folks did regular routine cooling system maintenance, "overheating" threads, this time of year, and "my heater doesn't work" threads, in a few months, would be virtually non-existent. Think about it.

U gotta spend a few dollars to keep a DD reliable, no?

well luckily for my $4k engine I know when and how to change the oil when looking at a dipstick and not to drive it until cooling issues are resolved. Thanks for the advice t'was really helpful, really. Have you ever considered being a mechanic? Youd make alot of money telling clients to just replace everything.

Its going though the hoses but once it reaches the housing I get no circulation, coolant just sits there. Have not messed with it due to work though.
