how old is your radiator? when my XJ was running hot I replaced everything, and it still ran hot till I replaced the radiator. I busted a tank off the old one and it was plugged with some kind of silt. runs cool now.

yes check the radiator,my 96 over heated also. i replaced the water pump ,belt, thermostat ,fan clutch....still overheated? finally layed down 150$ bought new radiator and installed it .overheating stopped ,then i took the old radiator to the shop i bought it at so the tech could open it up and check the tubes. he found about 40% of the core blocked with sludge. nuff said..... remember to flush your cooling system and change your coolant at least every 2 years.
