I have a 1995 Cherokee Sport 4.0 H.O. It currently has the remote door sensor above the rear-view and the overhead dome light above the center console. Can I install an overhead console from another xj to the existing wiring?

 

yes, the OHC from our years have a hole in them for that remote sensor to go into.

 

As long as you get Overhead Console from 1996 or earlier (grabbing brackets as well), it should be a mechanical drop in fit, though you will need to cut 2 holes in your headliner.

The wiring harnesses can be a bit more interesting. Wiring from a Wagoneer Harness was a LOT different than the one for Cherokee, though the console & brackets are the same.

I originally pulled from a 1990 Wagoneer, and found this out the hard way. Got lucky at different JY, and found a 1991 Cherokee with the Console. The wiring color codes are dead on match. 1 connector is different than what my 1993 uses, but the other is the same. Only other difference is the switched power wire apparently got moved to other connecter for my year.

Not to hijack but, I grabbed an OHC out of what looks like a 96. can I adapt it to my 99 woring harness, I couldnt care less if it tells temp or mileage I just want the storage and the lights. Any help is appreciated.
