My question is simple...i think...

My '91 Laredo has 196K+ miles on it, and shes making some noises and smells that concern me a little bit. My question is should I consider a TOTAL overhaul or just have the pistons and such cleaned and maybe replace a few components that really need it.

I know for a fact that I'm going to replace all front-mounted hardware (idler pulley, harmonic balancer, P/S pump, water pump, a/c bearing (maybe compressor), alternator, and fan clutch). I am also considering replacing the stock air intake with a nice cold air one I found at Autozone.

Any other parts I might wanna replace with all of this?

Well I would look into just doing a total rebuild on the motor then. All new bearings maby pistions, rings, cam, crank,pushrods, and lifter. o and oil pump. I knoow there is more just isnt coming to me.

 

new exhaust headers? maybe they tend to leak and break on the 4.0
