Default Overflowing Gas When Filling Up

My 98 just started doing this. It's overflowing gas when filling up. Any known issues or things I can check?

Is it overflowing shortly after you start pumping? Is it overflowing out the filler neck or some other spot? Are you able to put any gas in the tank?

Pump should automatically shut off. If this is the first time it did it, try a different pump.

Check the fuel fill and vent lines for kinks or other blockage. You may need to remove the inner liner.

It overflows out of the filler neck when the pump clicks off when it's full. It did it at this same gas station twice. I can try another station and see if it makes a difference. I will check the lines today.

What do you mean by removing the inner liner?

My '98 does this sporadically, though only a couple of tablespoons worth when it happens.

My assumption is he was referring to the metal cover that is bolted on and covers the lines... usually it has a crap ton of dirt and misc stuff that will fall down on you when you unbolt and go to remove it.

Perhaps "liner" was a poor choice of term. But FlyinRyan is right. Look under the body just aft of the tire and you'll see the plate covering the fuel inlet and vent hoses.
