Over heating at high speeds??
Hey everyone I have a question. I hope I'm in the write place. I have a 93 xj country edition. It over heats while on the freeway but city driving it doesn't go above 180 or 190. I have the motor rebuilt and everything but the clutch fan and the electric fan or new. The electric fan turn on though. Can someone please help me. I need it working by Sunday if possible.

Water pump was replaced when I did the rebuild a year ago. It never did it before. It actually started doing it right after I put 4.56 gears in it. I'm running 33 1250 15s btw.

Wouldn't happen to be your AC compressor barring where your belt spins is it? Take a wrench to the front of the compressor and see how hard it is to spin. Should have some some but not a super amount of resistance. My clutch was frozen an wouldn't turn and my belt was forcing to spin. I was fine in town, I got on the highway and it would get hot and smell so bad!!!

Highway speed the fan or lack of should not matter, sounds the water pump can't provide enough volume.
Fan is easy enough to check:
With the engine off & cold try to turn the fan by hand note the resistance.
With the engine off & at operating temp turn the fan by hand and note the resistance.
With the engine warm the fan should be harder to turn.
Some people make the mistake of thinking it will lock up solid, if it doesn't it's bad, well it won't. It will just be harder to turn.

Didnt think about that. I know just sittin in the drive way i can spin my fan really easy with no resistance. I will have to check that in the morning. Ive actually thought about removing my AC anyways so if that is bad im just going to get that mount that has a pulley on it.
