Put a CB Extreme on mine. Love the sound, but it does get a deep drone to it at certain times. A drone is when you get that really deep pitch that literally shakes the interior, your ear drums, and possibly your brain. Kinda like a nice set of 12 inch subs booming constantly. At least that's how it gets sometimes with my exhaust setup, haha. My advice is to get a nice kit. Some are pretty cheap and easy to install. When you get a muffler (if you go that route anyway), get the same type as stock (center inlet, offset outlet). Otherwise you'll end up like me, stuck with a side exit because you can't find an exhaust shop near your house to bend a tailpipe.

Haha, chopping might leave you with a good drone. In the process of putting my muffler on, my buddy and I of course had to hear it with just the cat on. And boy was it loud in his garage, haha. His mom wasn't too thrilled with it. Plus it was like 8 at night and we were revving it. I recommend getting a nice flowmaster 40 and using an extension and a reducer or two to get it goin through the stock piping again. Thrush turbo is supposed to be a good choice also. Check out my thread on exhaust sounds. There's a link in there of a few different setups. It's in the general chat. Used to be in modified, but it got moved. You might still be able to find it there though.

Your motor was designed to run off a certain back pressure and if you don't have a muffler it may effect your MPGs among ather things.

explain why there are aftermarket headers, mid pipes without the crush, high flow cats, high flow mufflers.

cause back pressure is so important..... your gonna get more power is the answer to why the above list is produced.

So mufflers don't create back pressure?

Good ones don't. Some of the lesser designs create quite a clog.

It will make your ears ring after ten minutes, and it sounds like a tractor at idle, and a redlining tractor anything higher

Mine sounds like a beefy v8 until i get to like 1200rpm, then it sounds like a tractor for about 2 seconds, and then sounds like a jeep after like 1700. It gets really deep around 1500, especially when the tc locks in at 45mph.

My muffler fell of one day. Been a few months without it and I like the sound of it. Took a part the exhaust from the muffler back and directed it out the side. And yes she sounds amazing when the torque converter locks up.
