Opinions wanted... spray on bedliner on roof
I have had my XJ for a few weeks (traded vehicles with my bro). I was putting the spare on the roof a week ago to make room in the back to make room for camping stuff.... When I did that I noticed that the paint on the roof was starting to chip a little and saw the first signs of rust in a few spots.
So to shorten this up a bit... I am wanting to put a spray on bedliner on the roof to keep it from getting scratched up if I put stuff up there and to keep it from rusting any more.
Has anyone done this?
If you have... did you do the entire roof or just the area under the roof rack?
I am thinking of just doing the area under the roof rack.

i dont see why it wont work, just sand the **** out of it first then go to srpaying and make sure you use a good quality spray, and put at least 2 or 3 coats depending what spray you use

JMO, but I would remove the rack first and make sure all the rust and scale is gone. Then sand, clean and prep thoroughly, and it should come out great.

i have my whole roof rhino lined.
but its old and starting to chip which is now holding water and will eventually rust :/
but i do like it because i dont have to worry when im encountering low tree branches.
but when its bright and sunny it makes the inside of my jeep feel like an oven.

I just did my whole jeep with the bedliner this past weekend. Prep is definately the most important thing. I rolled mine on, and used a brush in a few areas. I went to walmart and decided to try the Plastikote gallon. I was able to get 2 coats on the entire vehicle, and 3 coats on the hood with a little left over. I went back yesterday, and they replaced the plastikote gallon with rustoleum brand bedliner now. I love the look of it, and it went on pretty easy. I would say, don't really worry about spray, just get a roller and brush combo and go at it, shouldn't take long at all. For me to do the whole jeep took 8 hours. 5 hours prep (sanding and taping), and 3 hours to paint.
I'll be posting pics soon, just have to get them off the ol lady's camera.

When using spray on bedliner, prep is the most important part. Make sure you sand and clean the surfaces really well.
I used Duplicolor Spray-On Bedliner on my XJ's quarters and door bottoms. It has held up great over the past year, and unfortunately the only places that it has come off was where I didn't prep well-enough... just a few small areas.
