I just picked up an 8.8 from a guy that said it was out of a lincoln it has 3.27 gears with limited slip and complete discs, 28 spline axles it has lower control arm brackets and also upper on top of the pumpkin.

my question is do i try and sell this off and keep lookin for one at the junkyard that already had 31 spline axles and higher gears or should i just build this one?

Hopin somebody has some good insight i plan on runnin 35's with my 6.5 in lift i have 31's right now

 

Depending on the price would be my deciding factor. If it was a crown vic, I would say get it for the brake parts.


This axle has about the same strength axle wise as a d35 do to the amount of splines.

 

If it was the same gearing as yours Id say install it and try it. Since its not the same and will need regearing Id say hold out for a 31 spline 8.8.
The 4.10 8.8s are plentiful for less than $250, ck on carpart.com.
Also if you get a LSD one and decide to put in a lunchbox locker later you will need another carrier and have to have the gears set up.

 

how would i know if it was a crown vic? are the brakes bigger?
