I'm going to invest in a set or two of flood lights for the top of my XJ.

What's the best bang for my buck?

I want to turn dark into light when I need to.

Any suggestions?

Get a 40" led light bar.. that is the best option. Otherwise go to harbor freight and get 4 100w lights for like $40

That what I just did. Went to Harbor freight and picked up a couple of the 100w light and the work great. The only bad thing with there light is the adjustment. They have a weird slot adjustment on them. but other then that they do work great for the price.

First off....don't put floods overhead, you'll hate the glare.
