Ha!^. Guess if I DID have a still I wouldn't talk about it. And no. Moonshine doesn't look like that, it comes out clear. 1 year sober in about 3 weeks Btw.

Yea, did think of the same thing. There's always the chance you have more than one thing going on. Almost looks like it. You getten any blue-white smoke?

Also really, only 6 Mos? Whatdaydoen, 2 tanks a week?

Looks to me like those 2 had an incomplete spark. A partially broken or loose wire really cuts down on the spark's burn time - that doesn't get a good fire going, resulting in incomplete combustion, high emissions, and poor mileage. What you see is deposits that didn't burn, not really rust.

Try swapping those wires to other cylinders to see if the problem moves to those cylinders.

A QUALITY set of wires should cure it. Cheapie sets don't last long. Autochina does not sell anything QUALITY. Expect to pay about $50+ for good silicone wires. They'll last a long time. NAPA or CARQUEST.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll swap the wires around and see what happens. Im sure it's going to be the wires. And for a little over a year the xj was the only running vehicle we had, on average we used about 1 1/2 tanks a week. When its running good I do get 17 mpg out of it.
