Default One is the pcv and the other is?

There are two plastic elbows on my rocker cover. The one closest the belt seems to be called the pcv valve though it's just an elbow. The one towards the back looks like it has some kind of valve and nobody at either AutoZone or pepboys had a clue what it's called or where to get one.

They don't carry any of these tubes or connectors either. You guys know how to find out what these parts are called and where to get them? They need to be new.

It's called a ccv(crankcase ventilator) and you'll probably only find the tubes at a jy or just use some rubber hose.

I bought the back one from advance a few years ago. The front and back are different. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/d...searchTerm=ccv

Don't know about the front one.

These are plentiful in the junkyard.

jeep4x4center.com

Get your ccv valve here. I'd get the hose for it too if I was you. 53030492 is the part number for the rear valve if you want to get it somewhere else. Don't remember part number for front valve or hose. Will add later when I get home.

There are threads on this. I believe entire setup is available at NAPA but not sure if this is for all years.

As long as we are on the subject, these are not valves.

Before you install the rear hose, clean the fitting on the manifold with a bit of stiff wire or similar.

This forum rocks! Sorry I couldn't search on this one. Had no idea what it's called. CCV... awesome thanks. And they're ventilators not valves. That makes more sense.

Thanks for the links and part #'s. Ill check Napa first. Btw, I looked at our junkyard here in town and all the jeeps are stripped bare! Most don't even have engines or front ends at all. I'd rather replace plastic with new stuff anyway.

Bummer. Napa's website has no results for ccv or crank case ventilator. The last few times I got sent there for odd jeep parts they were stumped anyway.

Maybe this town just sucks. You guys all seem to have great junkyard and parts stores. We sure don't. At least I can order online these days. But forget getting it done today.

I got both of them at autozone for $5 ea. Sorry I do not have the part numbers though.

Ok, this is just. I'm doing all this work so it'll finally stop leaking oil. These plastic elbows are only a problem because the rubber wears out and they leak. So why don't I just clean them and rtv them on? I could just use a thin coating on the rubber washers.

What do you guys think? Seems idiotic to keep replacing some hard to get part that's doesn't wear out itself, only its washer.

Those rubber grommets are about $4 ea. at autozone as well. If both the front and back elbows are in good shape, then they should separate from the grommet without breaking. I replaced both elbows and grommets when I did my valve cover gasket. It took a good amount of force to remove the old ones from the valve cover, but both came out intact with the grommets still attached.

If you use rtv on them, I bet you will frustrate your future self. It is really convenient to swivel those elbows out of the way when working around them.

Rockauto has them for cheap too, I only got them at autozone because they were only slightly less expensive due to no shipping costs. If you are replacing them only because of a little oil seeping out, you will probably get the same result from a used part. All 4 pieces are less than $30 shipped, maybe even less than $20.

Below is for 87-90 Renix Jeeps. Some is the same as yours...I think. I've gone down the "silicone road". Brother, don't go there. It's a "gateway" sealant. Once you try it you might develop a problem. Silicone dependance can lead to ruin. You will be shunned by girls. "Oh my, Johnny has such a nice valve cover compared to yours. Employers may need to dump you. " looks like locknuts is up to a tube a month" Will be the chat at the water fountain.
I'm in recovery, but it's always there calling to me. JUST SAY NO!

Renix Vacuum Harnesses/CCV stuff.
The vacuum harness that attaches to the front of the valve cover and includes the grommet/fitting is Napa part number BK 715-1367
The vacuum harness that is closest to the air cleaner, EGR etc, and is called the rear harness, is Napa part number BK-715-1366.
The tube from the rear of the valve cover to the intake manifold is part number 715-1365.
The grommet alone for the rear is a 42088 Dorman

CCV elbow for rear of Valve cover for 91-93 Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Comanche: 53030492

CCV and MAP to Crankcase tube assembly for 91-96 Cherokee, G. Cherokee, Wrangle, Comanche: 53030728-M

PCV elbow for front of VC for 91-93 Cherokee, Wrangler, Comanche and 93 G. Cherokee: 53030591

I'd just get new ones if I were you. They'll last you another few years and you'll be able to pop them out if you need to down the road without messing with RTV. And doesn't it feel nice having all fresh and new parts anyway?
