One Good Reason "Not To Remove The Heater & Controls"
This goes back a number of years and not just a Jeep thing either but applies to most all makes and models. I'm sure that many of you already know this as it was common knowledge yrs ago and something my father taught me the first time he let my drive over the Rocky Mountains.
Whenever you see the engine start to over heat even if its a 100* outside that you turn on the heater on high for heat full open and high on fan speed as well. It will improve the cooling with a little more coolant available from the heater core and the fan drawing out some of the heat.
Is it uncomfortable Yeah, but I could always live with it if it kept the radiator from losing the coolant and having to deal with that. Does it work every time no, but if you turn it on soon enough and take a break or whatever it usually will.
JMMO and YMMV just another side to consider other than the heat /defrost in the winter and defog in the summer.

I did something similar on my F150 once. I personally believe turning on the heater gave me a few more minutes to get me home. And this is in Florida, and it was quite a hot day!
(a hose had a leak in it once I inspected it at home and I fixed it). :-)
