As stated, this thing has a love of TPS sensors, seems like every 2 months , it dies, the check engine light comes on , and the transmission goes nuts. Now I do have hood louvers on this XJ to help with cooling, and they work.
Though that maybe water was dripping on top of sensor from hood, so cover the sensor with metal tape to seal it, and still lost 1 last weekend. These are after market sensors from autozone, and Advanced auto, even tried a NAPA one. They give me a year warranty on them, just getting tired of changing them out.
Do I have to try a Dealer one next ??
Thanks all................ Mouse

Yes, but doesnt explain how changing it out for a new one fixes it. If it was a wiring issue, id expect it wouldnt change with a new sensor.
That being said, make sure you have a good ground connection between the engine and the body, namely the strap on the passenger side rear of the head.

I too have hood louvers and experienced problems with the TPS. I took a 4"x4" flat piece of rubber and attached it to the front screw on the intake to cover the TPS from water.
Thanks all, knew I could count on you guys for some more info and what to do. I will do all the comments and post up when done .
