I am replacing my carpet and removed my seats front driver and passenger. There is a an oil like substance that appears to be seeping up through the mounts from under the vehicle. Does anyone know what this is and how to stop it from coming back and staining the new carpet?

Hello Bslammer, I moved out of Temecula 2 years ago got too crowded for me, anyway, you'll need to find the source of the oil (obviously), check valve cover gasket, oil filter mount gasket, pan gasket, rear main seal etc... Pressure wash the underside real well and monitor where it is coming from, when driving the wind will push that oil all over the place. Good luck. Coach

Thanks Coach...yep I already crawled under and can see quite a bit of oil. I will clean up and see if I can find the leak. Probably left over from an old leak that has been fixed. Yep, Temecula is getting pretty darn crowded for me too.

What part of Temecula do you live in? I lived by Pechanga for about 12 years and then moved to Murrieta, out Winchester by Murrieta Hot Springs, and then right before I moved up here I lived off Rancho California and Margarita Road. I miss our friends and the weather but don't miss the traffic, politics, and people who just don't care about anyone else.

I live off Rancho California at Margarita Road in Temeku Hills. We moved here in 2003 to escape Thousand Oaks which was overcrowding and now Temecula seems to have the same problem. I used to do a lot of dual sporting in the mountains around here but more and more people = more and more restrictions. We will hang a few more years till the kids finish school and then I am thinking of Central America.
