Default oil stop leak

the other day i saw an oil stop leak that says stops or at least helps prevent rear main seals from leaking. is this stuff any good? or just a big no no? because it seemed pretty tempting. any input would be great
thanks

No it does not work. I am not saying this because I have some uber belief that adding things to your oil is bad. Some will say they would never put that stuff in thier engine.... I used additives all the time.... but I have not found the rear main seal stop leak stuff to work. I have seen the lucas oil stop leak slow my leak down though.. quite a bit. Research it and you will find a world full of those whole claim they work and those who will tell you how stupid you are for doing it. Just try it, maybe 500 mile before an oil change and see if it helps...if not... your going to drain it anyway. If it does, your good to go and just add it again after the oil change.

its only a temp fix you will still need to replace the seal at some point but i have seen it(personally) help prolong the inevitable for a while longer till i could get it fixed

Exclamation Stop Leak?

It's all snake oil. If you have a rear main seal worn enough to throw oil, nothing is going to stop it other than replacing it. You would need to run 140 weight gear oil to even slow it down and that would grenade your motor! Get a little dirty and replace the seal.

No such thing as Mechanic-In a-Bottle. That stuff may turn the other seals in the engine into mush.
