Is there anyway to remove your oil filter without having it spill all over?

haha yeah hes right, you can put a pan under it but that will only stop it from getting on the ground, youll get some on the starter and uca no matter what, but if you do it from the top and your quick enough you can prevent a lot of it

bottom line: your gonna make a mess either way haha, the perks of owning a jeep

You can always just hose everything down with brake parts cleaner and hit it with some air right away to clean everything off.

I suppose you could also cut the top of the filter off and suck the oil out, but thats alotta work for an oil change. Not to mention the chance of getting metal shavings in places you don't want.

I'm glad I don't own some certain Ferraris, Lamborghinis, or other hyper exotics where you need to drop/lift the motor to do plugs/wires/oil change.

Really dumb idea to have the oil filter horizontal to begin with.

First loosen the oil filter slightly with a wrench. Then take a plastic bag larger than the filter and "bag it". Continue to remove the filter with the bag surrounding it and wait a couple of moments after the filer is off. This way the bag catches 99% of the oil verus just dumping it on the side of the motor.

I just let it drain into a pan.. Its not gonna hurt anything, and that side of the jeep is rust free compared to the drivers side. lol
