went and looked at a 87 Comanche today no rust,no dents nice paint,2wd 5spd 4.0,107,oookms.was sitting for Cpl years.to make a long story short,fired it up,ran it for Cpl minutes,oil light was on,shut it off.oil,and oil filter still cold,shoulda been warm at the least,oil appers to not be circulating.engine was semi noisy from start up.has a mystery brand oil filter on it.oil pump,filter,or engine finished???what do you guys think??guy said ran great when he parked it.thoughts

They always ran great when they were parked. If it ran so good why did he park it? It takes more than a couple of minutes for the oil to get warm. It also take a little while for the lifters to get fully pumped full of oil after sitting for a long period of time. Take the oil cap off and see if oil is splashing around in there.

Have a look at what the oil looks like on the dipstick, same for the trans and smell it to see if any burnt odor is there. Open radiator cap and look inside radiator for any signs of rust in system, bad deal there.

Then follow the above for the oil issue.
