you might have gotten the wrong one, im interested in knowing if Fsher21's hypothesis is correct in saying that gauges have one pin and switches have 2 pins. It doesnt hurt to check and see if u got the wrong one it seems like everyone is getting the wrong one. Autozone asked me which one i wanted..

ok, so after a barefooted hike in 9 degrees, I found the switch in my center console. It has two terminals, pegs, what ever you want to call them lol. I think I threw away the box it came in, but it was in the box from the correct sending unit. For my 96' sport, advanced auto sold me part #S4133 with the BWD name.

i'm about to check mine out and see if it is the wrong unit. I'll post a picture with the pin side showing so we can determine which one it is. Also, do you guys recommend going through Jeep to get the new sending unit? Or going to an auto parts store (obviously not Autozone though...)

Describe EXACTLY what you see.
If it is not acting normally, where did you buy this part?
There have been a lot of threads with people having trouble with aftermarket oil pressure sending units.
I have had mixed (poor) luck with aftermarket sending units. I buy plenty of aftermarket parts, but the crank sensor and the oil pressure sending unit should come from JEEP for best reliability.
I worked in Engineering for 23 years for Honeywell, where we supplied OEM sensors to the automotive industry. There is a HUGE difference in reliability/longevity of sensor brands.

Can't tell you how many times I've responded to a thread with a bad aftermarket oil pressure sending unit.
Buy em at Jeep folks.....they cost an extra $20, but it is money well spent.

Yea, dealer sending unit is the way to go for quality, but I got caught once when the parts guy grabed a sending unit for a Grand Cherokee instead of a stock cherokee. They look and mount the same, but the gauge pegged at 80psi and did not even come down to zero with the engine off. The parts guy looked up the stock number and saw He goofed and gave me the correct one and everything was Ok after installing it.
Never know if aftermarket part was for a Grand Cherokee when the parts employee is an 18 yr old rookie.

Just bought a sending unit from Advanced and popped it in. I actually get a reading now. It stays between 43-55 (rough estimates) at all times, even at idle and driving.
