Oil Pressure Gauge Fluctuating Wildly

The oil pressure gauge on our 1996 Cherokee Sport has started fluctuating wildly while being driven. It starts at its normal pressure of 40 or so, but shoots up to 80 quickly then goes back down to 40 over and over again. I also hear a speaker making a popping noise from the rear sound bar which is a new thing. Coincidence? I don't think anything is actually wrong with the oil pressure itself, seems to be electrical. Thoughts?

Second on the oil pressure sending unit. Every time I change my oil, I hit it just right to mess up the wire so it makes my gauge do similar wonky things. I keep telling myself I'm going to change it up, since its a really easy fix, but then I just mess the wire on the sending unit and it eventually goes back to working and I forget about it until I change the oil again.

Yup, oil pressure sending unit. I recommend buying a genuine Mopar sending unit directly from Jeep. I have had mixed luck with aftermarket senders as far as both accuracy and reliability.
