Default Oil Pressure Gauge

Hey ya'll. Another question bout my Jeep. I took it up into the mountains today and noticed that the gauge wasn't working. I'm not sure if it ever worked to be honest, just for sure noticed it today. I'm sure this is a re-post, but I searched it on here and couldn't find anything. I'm guessing it's the sending unit, but not sure. Any ideas?

Sending unit usually near your oil filter.

The sending units are prone to failure. It's on the passenger side of the block, near the filter. It is prolly 2.5" in diameter, and has one wire that snaps in the end of it. It is inexpensive, and easy to replace. This is most likely your issue!! HTH!!

Check that the wire is still in contact with the sender. Often the oil changes are prone to pull the wire off and forget to re-attach it. I have done so myself. If the wire is connected then it is time to replace the sender. Use teflon tape and just be gentle with it as they can be fragile.

I checked it out. The wire is still connected. I took it off and the terminal was nasty so I cleaned it off and still didn't fix it. To replace it, I just have to unscrew and put on the new one?

Yep, it just screws out. I think I paid $25 for mine at advanced auto parts.
Like the previous poster said, just use some teflon tape on the threads.

Pretty much thats it. Use some teflon tape on the threads for a sealant and to make it easy to change if it ever needs it again.

What about Pipe dope? Will that work in place of the teflon tape? I'm not sure if I got the tape. I had to order the sensor from NAPA and should have it this afternoon. On another happy note. I called and talked to the yurk off at the JY who keeps sending me the wrong axle (for those who know what I'm talkin bout) and he said that I should be getting my 8.25" this afternoon. Supposedly my lesson I gave to the delivery dude is gonna work and he'll know if he has the right one before he me makes the hour long drive to drop it off. By the way. Thanks a bunch Blue, whowey and whoever else has been helping me.

The pipe dope will work but it won't be as easy to get it off next time. The teflon tape is available at HomeDepot or Lowes in the oplumbing section and is about $1 for a roll.
Snap some pics of your 8.25 when it arrives this afternoon.

I'll dig around. I'm sure somewhere in my mess I have some tape, if not then my bro-in-law should have it. I'll get those pics up as soon as I can.

This is funny stuff. I called the JY to see what's up with the delivery dude. They told me this morning he would be here today with my axle. I called them again at 4 this afternoon and they told me the dude didn't even have it on his truck to get delivered today. As I typed this I was talking to the dude and he said they have it, but they are trying to confirm the ratio. Someone told him that it was a 3.22, but apparently they don't make that ratio. I dunno. oh yea. Took it out in the mud for a bit today. Crawled up some steep hills that left only the hood of the truck to look at. This thing is the nuts. Never had to go into 4L. 4H took care of it all.

Oh yea. The whole point of this thread, my sending unit. I picked one up at the NAPA and it doesn't look anything like whats in the rig. I noticed on the new on it only has a place to wrench on near the threaded side. Is the actual unit a small 2-3" long deal? Or is it that whole thing?

Alright. I guess I'm retarded. I got the sending unit replaced and my gauge runs at the line past 40 and drops just below 40 when in idle. Sound good? Sorry for all the weird questions about how to do this. The new part doesn't look anything like the old one did so it threw me for a loop. I guess the old one was prolly original. Thanks for the help though.
