Default Oil Pressure Gauge

I brought a preowned 1993 Jeep Cherokee Sport. It was sitting for 3 years but it runs great and i got a pretty good deal for it. The thing is the oil pressure gauge hasn't moved from zero . Ive checked all the oil and added what was needed but there was no change to the gauge. Is there anyway to check if its the gauge or what would I need to replace to fix this problem.

Not sure if its the same for 93 but my 00 i replaced the oil pressure switch/sending unit which costs like $20 OEM (dont bother w 3rd party) and just screws on, easy cheap fix, if that doesnt work id think about the gauge

Yep, that sounds like a bad oil pressure sensor. The sensor can easily be broken off when changing the oil filter or in many cases they just go bad over time, it seems to be a common thing that goes out on XJ's. Very easy to replace, just unplug the old one and unscrew it, use the same steps in reverse for installation. It takes maybe 5 minutes at the most. Changed it in my 93' XJ sport and the gauge has worked ever since.

Key on, unplug sender, ground sender wire to bare metal, gauge should peg.
