oil pressure fluctuating

Engine: 4.0 liter straight 6
oil pressure fluctuating
I have a 88 Cherokee 4.0 with the 5 speed and I've noticed that when the clutch is in that the oil pressure drops is this normal? The oil pressure while driving is at 40 and when the clutch is in it drops to about 20
