You've mentioned this filter twice. Why do you think it is an improvement over the regularly promoted (on this site) WIX 51515? I've used the 51515 some with success (and a few duds.) I will look for the 51452 next oil change.

Uhoh... I'm being stalked! My source: http://www.ihpartsamerica.com/forums...l-filters.html

Have fun reading! Second page gets really interesting. Our engines have a number of similarities.

WTF is this sorcery?

How is this possible that a filter change returned the pressure to where it is "supposed to be"?

This morning, I moved it over in front of the shop to do the pump swap. The pressure was readind 50-55. "Well, that's odd." So I took it for a drive to reach operating temp.

Dropped down to 30-35 and 25-30 at idle. Right where it should be.

Why?

What is that Napa filter doing that two in a row Fram filters weren't?

Letting oil through! Highly restrictive filters stop a lot of the oil and you get less flow and less pressure downstream of it, where the pressure sending unit is. The same thing happens when a better filter is dirty, however a GOOD filter has a properly functioning bypass valve that will open when the filter is clogged to prevent oil starvation.

Doing what it was designed to do. Perform per factory specs, not according to some marketing hype. Glad to hear this!!!!!

ah.. it's nothing cruizer. I talk to my friends the same way as ya'll talk to me here, so no offense was taken.

Frankly, many folks don't understand the frustration that experts in a field feel when answering the same question, time and time again, to people who wont believe the guy who they asked in the first place.

BTDT, sooooo... I replaced my brand. damn. new. oil filter (against my better judgement and what I thought I knew) and it worked as ya'll claimed that it would.

Sorcery, or the voice of experience. Not sure which.

Thanks again fellas!
