What is the oil pressure supposed to be running at mine seemsto fluctuate between 10 and 40. 40 being wen my foot is in the gas. Is this bad and what can it be ?

 

Mine's done that for the last 4years,the original owner said it rolled off the lot like that.

I assumed it was normal.

Once, it read higher, but I replaced the oil pressure sensor, and it was fine again.

Yeah mine does that too. Im not worried about..nothing bad hasnt happened yet

 

We just had a very informative thread on this. Supposedly idle should be >12 as in 13 and up and I think cruise was in the high 30s.... you ougt to use the search function for oil pressure.
My jeep (being grateful that I rescued her from her old dysfunctional family) idles around20 and tops out 50-60.... I feel lucky.

 

Oil pressure spec. for the Jeep 4.0 is as follows:

*Not less than 13 psi at hot idle

*Between 37-75 psi over 1600 rpms

If you're in this bracket, you're fine.
