hey i have a 97 xj with the 4.0 and today i swapped out the gauge cluster and i noticed my oil pressure stays at zero. Before i did this i noticed that the dummy light for the oil light never lit up so when i swapped it out someone removed the bulb. i went under the hood and by the oilfilter its leaking oil. could this be a problem?

 

you need the sender for the gauge. The old one is just a switch.

 

ohh so with the new gauge cluster it wont just work?

i just read that thats only for pre 97. the 97+ is plug and play

 

kinda scared to drive it now

 

The sender is shot and leaking, change it.

 

im not 100% it is the sender. but when i unplugged it some oil came out

 

if its leaking oil replace it

 

i guess ill replace it and see what happens because i just ran the gauge check and all of them work.

 

is it safe to drive? i mean im pretty sure ive been driving it like this since i bought it
