Default Oil Pressure

I'm not exactly new to the whole engine thing.....but I'm a little stumped on this one....

The Oil pressure was reading at 80 psi all day long, changed oil and filter and dropped it down to 60 psi...but get this..... at higher rpm under load, lets say racing through the desert up a hill at 55mph my psi drops to 40!!! but when i level out at the top and slow down it climbs back up to 60psi and never really moves from 60 in any in-town or highway driving i have a new sending unit...but have not checked the pressure with an alternate source... suggestions are more than welcome

Did it react exactly the same before and after changing the oil pressure sending unit? I have had mixed (poor) luck with aftermarket oil pressure sending units, I buy mine from Jeep.

You could get a "MECHANICAL" oil pressure gauge on it and verify it. Can rent this tool from many parts stores.
