Default oil pressure

if i put the key to the on position, should i have a reading on the oil pressure gauge?

why i ask this question is because my oil pressure goes all the way up since 2 days, even at idle, but everything else, including the jeep itself, runs great.

i changed the oil, same problem.

but i just saw that when putting the key to on, with the engine not running, i have a "normal" oil pressure...

is it a sending unit or sensor problem?

big job ?? $$ ??

txs

by the way, its on a 2000 4.0 xj

well it shouldnt read anythin till you have the engine runnin and it seems like ya may hit the oil pressure sensor cause i had the same problem and all i had to do was replace it and its alright now and its pretty cheap for them too

The sensor is for the idiot light, the sending unit is for the actual guage with the needle.
