oil pressure

i got a 92 with a 4.0 and 236xxx miles on it. when its idleing some times the oil pressure drops to about 20 but when i giv3e it a little gas it gets right back up to normal and then everyonce in a while when it gets above 3000 rpm it starts falling back down. i put a mech guage in this weekend so i kno its no the guage or the sending unit. im thinking oil pump going bad any body got a better idea?

yeah the pump might need to be done. if you are going to pull the pan you might want to look around for bearing clearance they can cause the oil psi to be a little week if there is excessive clearance
