Default Oil pan removal

I searched, and some said you do and do not have to remove the starter and down pipe. I have all the bolts out and oil pan can be wiggled around a little. It looks like it is hanging up on the down pipe. I am also wondering about the transmission lines. The oil pan seems to contact them as well. They are however disconnected from the oil pan. I do have a 4 inch lift, so I do not need to raise the vehicle.

Thanks for the help.

I haven't done a 4.0. I did read you can move it to reach to remove the oil pump, then the works comes out, with the pump in the pan. I did find that my header pipe nuts where a piece of cake. Anyway you must have it by now. Bet that's fun!

If you remove the oil pump you need a new gasket. Which I found I couldn't get unless I bought a new pump. Whoops.

That's gotta be an easy one. Made a few carb bowl gaskets. That'l get your attention.

OP, Curious, what did you smash your old pan on? Rain-deer? Nativity Scene?

Had to remove the starter on mine too.. '93 Laredo 4.0L I didn't mess with the exhaust, but I had to unbolt the oil pump with the pan still hangin' to wiggle it out. The replacement gasket came with my oil pump rebuild kit, but in the kit, it said it may not be needed if there wasn't one there in the first place. Mine didn't have one, but i used it anyway.
Now that you got the oil pan off, whatcha gonna do in there, RMS?
I'd suggest you use a nice one piece rubber gasket, use loctite on the pan bolts and just 'snug' 'em down. A little rtv up by the crank is needed as well. I LOVE my 'no leaks anywhere' Jeep!
