Sheesh it made that big of a difference on your power bill? I guess 600watts over several hours... I used them on all my Cummins and I don't remember my power bill sky rocketing.... Maybe I didn't look at the bill enough.... hahaha. Hmmmmmm......

A typical block heater is different and no where near 500 watts. It heats the oil a little to keep it from turning to goop while parked usually over night. The thing on our generator heats all of the water to normal operating temp. 24x7 in spite of the water being directly connected to a full size radiator. When the generator is not running you can hear the heater on the edge of boiling the water. Seems excesive to me, but I'm an Internet and comms guy, not a standby generator guy.
