what kinda oil does everybody use?
what kinda oil does everybody use in there trail rigs just trying to figure out what i should put in mine? Also has anybody else taking the heater core out of there jeep to make it lighter?

i run amsoil in all my rigs. as for the heater core, i took the one out of my powerwagon but thats cause im putting a mojave style heater in.

I buy whatever brand of oil is on sale that week, at least I do for the Jeep. The LS2 in my GTO has to have certain brands of oil to keep the warranty, so that always gets Pennzoil Platinum, or Mobil 1, whichever is cheaper.

To loose weight??? There are ALOT better things to do to put a XJ on diet than take out the heater core.
The maybe 5 lbs of weight there and possibly another 1/2 gallon of coolant aren't going to make any realistic difference.
Change from steel to aluminum wheels and you are going to lose about 10 times the weight.
My wheeling Jeep runs farm store brand 20w-50. It needs an RMS and has bad-blowby so anything else is a waste of money.
The maybe 5 lbs of weight there and possibly another 1/2 gallon of coolant aren't going to make any realistic difference.

The heater core is also a pain in the a$$ to take out because you need to take apart the entire dashboard, i just replaced mine a few weeks ago, its not worth the time to save a few pounds.

'87 Pioneer: SuperTech full synthetic 10W-30. Does not use any oil between 7500 mile changes.
'92 Laredo: SuperTech 10W-30 regular oil. I recently purchased this Jeep and are currently restoring it. When I get an idea of oil consumption or not, I will make the decision on whether to stay with conventional oil or go to full synthetic.
Heater core: leave it in; it only weighs a couple of pounds. Your heater box is designed for it. Take the junk out of the hatch area instead.

Valvoline Max Life 10w-30... Just strip the interior. the dash isn't worth tearing down to remove the core
