Default oil leak from valve cover scews

I replaced my valve cover a few months ago because it was leaking from the back. I only replaced the gasket but now I am getting oil from what looks like the back screw holes. Doesnt help much to tighten them down plus I dont want to over tighten them and ruin the gasket. Is there some sort of seals or gasket that belong on the rear screws?

When you changed the gasket, did you use a Fel-Pro cork/rubber gasket or just RTV sealent?

A good rubber gasket and some RTV.

you got the grommets on there right?

I used the felpro gasket that came with new rubber grommets. and tightened the screws up till it was tight some and no leaks.

I did not use the grommets. I believe I still have them. I tried to get the old ones off but I was not sure if I needed them. I guess I need to pull it off and replace the grommets. There were grommets on it already and I could not get them off so I just left them on there. That must be the problem because oil is collecting on the top lip of the valve cover. I am worried about pulling the cover though and ruining the new gasket but I guess its needs to be done. Thanks for that reminder, I forgot all about them.

X3 in putting some RTV sealant around the screws before you put them in the holes in the valve cover.

The valve cover itself is ur problem the heat of the engine warps the valve cover that happened to my friends xj we replaced the gasket and that didn't work try a new valve cover it worked for us plus it gives new look to an engine if u get a nice one
