I got the oil changed on Wednesday at Carl Black ( a local chevy dealer) bc I had a $12 coupon which is cheaper then I can buy the supplies. Jeep has been parked in garage since. I crawled under today to look at my cps and saw this:





I thought I remember some oil on the pan before, but now there is fresh oil on the outside of the plug and the new filter. Any thoughts?

 

Given the staining beyond the oil filter, possible oil filter housing leak.

 

Make sure everything is tight, and check your oil level every few days. My filter and pan are dirty with oil, but I never lose enough to have to replace any after 3k miles until a change. You drive a jeep, they mark their territory lol. If you are really worried about it, do it yourself. That way you know it is done right.

 

O-ring may have stuck onto the filter housing from the previous filter when someone took it off. Crush washer on the oil pan looks weird.
