Oil is leaking from here is this the main rear seal or what?

yes definitly the rear main seal. It looks more like a hole in the block though

dont mean to push this but can anyone tell me why this area might be leaking?

I had the same problem last week. Guys on here had some good info. Cleaned up the oil pan and lower block with pressure washer. When I looked, I thought it was the main seal, but then found that there was oil above the oil pan. I found out it was the oil filter adapter/mount. Only 3 O-rings to replace once you get it off. Fixed me up and no leaks now. I bought the oil pan gasket and main seal anyway.....cause I know that will go soon too. Hope this helps. From reading this forum on leaks, you look at the valve cover, oil pan, main seal, and the oil filter adapter. These guys know their stuff.

check out the valve cover. Mine is some what looking like that and its coming from the valve cover.
