Default oil flow problems

so i have a 94 5 speed 4.0l ho and i recently took the valve cover off to do the gasket as it was leaking, and there was alot of crusty gunky build up. im talkin ALO sobi cleanes it all out,and i did my best rto make sure no crap fell inside the engine,so i put it all back together and change oil and filte, the oil wasnt to bad, but i just bought the rig and the PO said he just did a change. any ways now when i shut the truck down yoh can hear oil drain down into the pan. any ideas as to what my next move should be and hat my problem is? my dad thinks there some crap plugging an oil galley, does this sound probable? how would i clean it out?

Why do you think you have a oil flow problem? It is normal to hear oil draining back to the oil pan...that means oil is getting to top of head and rockers.

As bigbadon said hearing the oil flow back down into the oil pan isn't a bad thing. It you are really concerned about you oil you can always do a oil pressure test and compression test and any others that you want but like mentioned it isn't a problem to hear it going back to the oil pan. Also if the valve cover was filled with crude that only tells you the the PO didn't do the oil changes as often as they should have been done.

These guys are right on. Try running some Rotella T3 oil with a Wix filter for a while, like 3000 miles at the next change. For now, drain a quart of oil out and add a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil. Your oil will darken quite quickly as it dissolves the sludge. Probably ought to only run 1000 miles or so like that, then switch to the T3. You can monitor the progress by shining a light into the filler hole.
